Jehovah himself gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and discernment.—Prov. 2:6.

Jehovah is a generous, abundant Provider. These qualities are reflected in “true wisdom,” personified in Proverbs chapter 9 as a woman. The account mentions that this figurative woman has fully prepared her meat, mixed her wine, and arranged her table in her house. (Prov. 9:2, ftn.) Further, according to verses 4 and 5: “She [personified wisdom] says to the one lacking good sense: ‘Come, eat my bread.’” Why should we come to true wisdom’s house and eat the meal she offers? Jehovah wants his children to be wise and safe. He does not want us to learn life’s lessons the hard way—through bitter experience and with nagging regrets. That is why “he treasures up practical wisdom for the upright.” (Prov. 2:7) When we have a healthy fear of Jehovah, we will want to please him. We hear his wise counsel, and we are happy to apply it.—Jas. 1:25. w23.06 23 ¶14-15

You can't walk with God while holding hands with the Devil.

Jehovah is an incredibly generous provider. In Proverbs 9, wisdom is described as a woman who has prepared a wonderful meal, inviting anyone willing to come and enjoy it. This feast symbolizes the life-giving guidance Jehovah offers through his Word. The imagery of bread, wine, and meat shows that Jehovah’s wisdom is rich, satisfying, and nourishing for both our minds and hearts.

Why does Jehovah extend this invitation? It’s because he loves us and wants the best for us. Proverbs 2:6-7 explains that Jehovah provides wisdom and treasures up practical advice for those who strive to do what is right. Jehovah doesn’t want us to go through unnecessary pain or regrets because of poor choices. Instead, he lovingly offers us guidance so we can live happy and safe lives.

Here are three ways we can reflect on this invitation:

1. The Generosity of Jehovah’s Wisdom: Jehovah has prepared an incredible “feast” for us through his Word, meetings, and other spiritual provisions. Are we taking the time to appreciate these gifts? Do we find joy in studying the Bible and reflecting on its lessons?

2. Accepting the Invitation: Accepting Jehovah’s invitation means putting effort into developing a closer relationship with him. This involves praying, meditating on his Word, and spending time with others who love Jehovah. Doing so strengthens our faith and helps us make wiser decisions.

3. The Benefits of Wisdom: Following Jehovah’s guidance protects us and brings peace to our lives. Have you noticed how applying his counsel helps you avoid unnecessary stress or heartache? Whether it’s choosing good friends, managing money wisely, or solving problems in school or work, Jehovah’s wisdom acts like a shield, keeping us safe.

When we accept this invitation, we fill our lives with joy and the confidence that comes from knowing Jehovah is guiding us. His wisdom is always available—like a beautifully prepared table waiting for us to come and enjoy. Will we take our seat and savor the feast Jehovah has lovingly prepared?
